Every day for 5 days, we take this road from the hotel to the VSO-Uganda Programme Office . It is a long 10-minute walk on sometimes muddy or dusty road. There is a steep incline on the road that leaves you gasping for breath. Sometimes I was discouraged to take the hike especially since I just arrived from Manila where I had no recent practice of hiking in that fashion. On two occasions, I mustered some courage to hitch hike.
This is the VSO-Uganda office. It has a resource center where volunteers can have access to computers and internet, and a library which includes books donated by volunteers. The grounds are spacious and well-kept. The staff are warm and took good care of our needs.
This is my batch of volunteers. I am the one standing behind the lady in red shirt, Jenny, a nurse. This was taken at the VSO's banda (hut), inside the compound.
it looks like a nice place mamai! cant wait to see what you really do as work! :)
ReplyDeleteThe place looks quite like my visualization of it. Thanks for the photos. By the way, mail came in today from there. From Kampala to Manila. Abigail received your mail on June 30, and mailed her reply on July 6th.It actually left Kampala July 8th, per post mark, and Manila post office got it July 23rd, per post mark. But we got it here at Ortigas Center today August 3rd.So, it was a total of a little less than a month's journey.I will forward tomorrow mail that came in today from Mr. Bernabe in NY with pictures of your reunion in Manila.
